Commitment to Community

Part of my joy is the opportunity to give back to my community. I am a firm believer in karma – what I give comes back to me twofold so I am more than happy to share my time, my skills and love with others in the community. The list below indicates my passion for improving my community.

Local area murals including the Helper City Library Children’s Room, the Walt Borla mural located at the little league field as well as church murals.

Summer smART program – this program teams local area artists with the elementary school to create projects which are displayed during the Helper Arts, Music and Film Festival.

For the past two years I have served as one of the Co-Directors of the Helper Arts, Music and Film Festival as well as participating on the Helper Revitalization Steering Committee.

Last, I have incorporated community into my next significant art undertaking – The Faces of Helper. This project consists of collecting stories from our older residents while creating a portrait of the subject. This ties the humanities to the art and makes it more connected to the human experience.
